As it was very nice last year I went to the 2006 Spaitalia also. This time I took my new bought rallye Monti. On the way to Spa we drove some narrow side roads in Germany and Luxembourg which was lots of fun and stayed overnight on a lovely camping site in Luxembourg.

In Spa it was the same great mixture of the whole sports cars of all italian car makers and the special flair of this famous race circuit. This year the meeting was held over the complete weekend of 17 and 18 June. I could meet some friends from Luxembourg and Belgium there again.

This time I decided to participate in the so called Grande Parade which means an one-hour session on the racetrack with your own car. It was much more fun than I expected as the track has not so many long straight passages but also some challenging turns. Of course it wasn't real racing as there was a pace car in the front to avoid too excessive driving (after a while it was quite disturbing...)

In 2006 the main themes were the 100th anniversary of Lancia and the Abarth world meeting. There was a huge Lancia area and with the support of the Lancia Club Belgio a special exhibition of Lancia cars from  early to late years. Guy Moerenhout showed his Monte-030 conversion project, unfinished but promising and Sean's red Monte won a price in the Concours d'Elegance.

A great amount of Abarth cars was exhibited (and some also on track) with the support of the Abarth Squadra Storica. And all the other wonderful Alfas, De Tomaso, Ferraris, Maseratis and Lambos. Quite sure that I'll participate Spaitalia 2007.
